Here's how.

There are four scholarships available: 

1) The WLME Scholarship is $1,000.00. To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must be a Senior, have a 3.0 GPA or higher, have been accepted to attend college in the Fall of 2024, and plans to attend a Historically Black College/University (HBCU). 

2) The James Simmons Memorial Scholarship is $1,000. This scholarship is awarded to any high school student with a physical or mental disability who has been accepted to college and plans to attend in the fall of 2024. It is funded by James and Sandra Simmons. 

3) The Sean White Memorial Scholarship is $1,000.00. It will be awarded to a student who has demonstrated high scholastic achievement, been accepted to college, and plans to attend a HBCU in the fall of 2024. Preference is given to those students who plan to study psychology.  This scholarship is funded by former State Representative Harry Lewis and Regina Lewis. 

4) The Inez E. DeBaptiste Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a student who has excelled academically, been accepted to any college, and plans to attend in the fall of 2024. This memorial scholarship is funded by Dr. Clifford E. DeBaptiste in memorial to his wife, Inez E. De Baptiste.

Each applicant must complete the scholarship application, attach their high school transcript, two letters of reference and submit a 300 word essay on why he/she should receive the specific scholarship. The completed application package must be sent to 1513 West Chester Road, Coatesville, PA 19320 and received by April 19, 2024.

Applicants are evaluated based on their personal essay, which asks the student to discuss their ambitions, how the pursuit of higher education can help them to realize their dreams, and why they should be a recipient of the scholarship.  We also evaluate the students based on what they include in their application, such as extracurricular activities, if their parents attended higher education, and more. 

All scholarships will be presented at our 43rd Annual Scholarship and Award Recognition Event.
